It used to be taller and, until the 15th century, was known as the Torre del Pignolo. It must have served as a watchtower and military control post when Busca did not yet exist; at the first signs of danger, the inhabitants would take refuge in the ‘castelliere’, a fortification situated near the present-day Roccolo.
