Busca Carneval week

The ‘Amici del Carlevè ‘d Busca’ association and the Town of Busca are celebrating the 71st edition of the ‘Carlevé ‘d Busca’ from 23 to 25 January 2026 with evenings of music and dancing, activities for children and a parade of allegorical floats. The masks will take centre stage during the three days of festivities! Micun and Micunetta are the masks of the Busca carnival, linked to the tradition of bread. The idea came from two local youths, Reno Masoero and Giuseppe Fassino, who in 1955 decided to invent two local masks. The name derives, in fact, from the shape of a typical Piedmontese bread: the “micun”, a male character, and his lady companion, the “micunetta”. The first two residents of Busca to portray the local masks were Lucia Daniele and Luigi Berardo. Many other residents subsequently carried on the local tradition.

Local festivals

During the spring and summer months, numerous patron saint festivals are occasions of great significance for the community of Busca and its hamlets: not only for their religious significance, but also as opportunities to come together and celebrate local traditions.

Feast of the Madonnina (“Our Lady”)

At the beginning of August, the feast of the Madonnina, the city’s patron saint, is celebrated: it commemorates the significant event of 1745, when Mary’s miraculous intervention, in response to the people’s prayers, saved the city from the raging rinderpest and, subsequently, from the ravages of war. Since 1755, the Madonnina festivities have been celebrated every year on the first Sunday in August with great solemnity and a large gathering of people in the church and the square, offering their prayers.

Feast of St Luigi

St Luigi is celebrated in Busca every year on the first Sunday in July.
