Originally dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, the church was renovated in 1647 in Baroque style and became the seat of the Confraternity of St. Antonino. In the 18th century, it was incorporated into the hospital for the poor.
Under Napoleonic law, it was closed for worship and subsequently became the seat of the municipal theatre.
